This individual project reflects a book design dedicated to a sustainable fashion designer—Bethany Williams. Her work inspires me because she proposes an alternative system for fashion production. She has a strong belief that fashion can create a positive impact. Her work speaks sustainability because of the waste materials she reuses; it also shows how design can be used as a force for positive change. The content of this book is a display of close-up pictures I took while visiting her exhibition Alternative Systems at the Design Museum in London, in 2022.
The aim is to highlight the sustainable materials she used in her work. Being a publication designed mainly with images, I decided to compose a collage which I then used as a dust jacket. Therefore, the cover is simply displaying the artist’s name. I kept it minimalistic and straightforward, due to the fact that the dust jacket strikes us with lots of colours and textures.
